I'd like to start my new 'blogging season' -this is, blogging again after a long busy period without internet at home- with some pictures from our holidays in Sicily last Christmas. The most delicious tangerines ever, from my boyfriend's family land.We watched a friend harvesting honey. Don't let the digital zoom fool you, we stood very far back!
I was back in the dirty old town for five days. I met my friends, went to my favorite places, visited the Knitting and Stitching Show, got dripping wet, then a sore throat and a cold, and ate some delicious carrot cake. I loved being there again.
I am now in Spain, enjoying a real summer with high temperatures, picnics and trips to the beach. I don’t have an internet connection at the moment, so regular blogging will be difficult in the next weeks. As soon as I have my own place and proper internet access I’ll blog about these beautiful holidays. Today, just a few pictures of a picnic by the lake not far from here.
In the latest posts I got very excited talking about Freiburg and I forgot to mention that before we arrived to Freiburg we spent a few hours in Basel, Switzerland. Here are some pictures:This is one of the moving objects in the very eccentric Jean Tinguely's fountain. These are some of the others:
During my recent trip to Freiburg I spent most of the time walking around and I discovered really nice shops. Fabrics (specially Aida and linen for embroidery), kits and patterns in... [Lire la suite]
Art/Antiques/Curios: Difficult to visit all of them on a short trip. These are some that caught my eye.- Langenbeck (Gerberaustrasse 6): metal antiques and replicas for period hauses. Beautiful period tiles from Replicata.- Silvia Steinhauser (Gerberaustrasse 10): Antiques and deco shop. Items from Green Gate.- W. Walking around Freiburg and discovering pattern and texture:
Apart from being very green city Freiburg has a special relationship with water. It just seems to flow everywhere. They have a river (the Dreisam) and a canalization of it along the old town, several public fountains of drinking water and what is most carachteristic, the Freiburg Baechle, a system of small canals on the side of the street which is present in all the city centre. In a warm day you can see half naked children and dogs playing, bathing and splashing in them, and a few adults cooling their feet in them too. By the way, it... [Lire la suite]
