A taste of autumn in Dublin

I was back in the dirty old town for five days. I met my friends, went to my favorite places, visited the Knitting and Stitching Show, got dripping wet, then a sore throat and a cold, and ate some delicious carrot cake. I loved being there again.

Street culture

Since I came back to Spain I am fascinated by the amount and the kind of things people throw away. All these things should be inside the rubbish container, but for some reason very often they are just left around the place... Every morning on my way to school I walk across Gracia district and I make new discoveries like this, so I keep my camera ready. I suppose it's the 'out of context' feel that attracts me of all these poor things abandoned in the street.

A Swiss moment

In the latest posts I got very excited talking about Freiburg and I forgot to mention that before we arrived to Freiburg we spent a few hours in Basel, Switzerland. Here are some pictures:This is one of the moving objects in the very eccentric Jean Tinguely's fountain. These are some of the others:

Souvenir de Freiburg (part 3)

Apart from being very green city Freiburg has a special relationship with water. It just seems to flow everywhere. They have a river (the Dreisam) and a canalization of it along the old town, several public fountains of drinking water and what is most carachteristic, the Freiburg Baechle, a system of small canals on the side of the street which is present in all the city centre. In a warm day you can see half naked children and dogs playing, bathing and splashing in them, and a few adults cooling their feet in them too. By the way, it... [Lire la suite]

Souvenir de Freiburg (part 2)

Freiburg is one of the greenest cities I've ever seen. Of course the fact of being in the Black Forest it's a good starting point, but all over the city you can see how they have taken care of this aspect. They have several city parks, many houses have nice front gardens, nearly every street has trees on both sides and there is a lot of vertical green too: flowers hang from balconies, facades have climbing plants and in a few streets in the city centre wisteria plants make a green pergola over... Street art reinvents itself

A few weeks ago I was walking in Milan next to a building site. This is a detail picture of the enclosure of the site. Interesting effect, isn't it? Builders place the timber boards, people paint on them, then they are taken down and put up in the next site. Obviously the builders don't respect the composition of the image, unless they want to play jigsaws at work, so a different image comes out. Someone paints over it again, the whole thing is taken down and reassembled elsewhere in a different way and so on. (picture by me)
